Quad State Bass Club Incorporated
was established in 1993 when a group of avid, African American
bass fishermen met at Lake Ray Hubbard in Dallas Texas to hold
the inaugural Club bass fishing tournament. The event drew a
modest number of anglers but their enthusiasm made up for the
lack of numbers.
Although the organization started with an African American male
membership, it now includes amateur anglers of all races and
gender. Quad State Bass Club always donates part of its tournament
fees to local charities in the communities in which tournaments
are held. Quad State Bass Club also sponsors youth fishing rodeos
in member clubs hometowns. Quad State Bass Club sponsors and
sanctions several competitive bass fishing tournaments each
year designed to accommodate weekend anglers. The Quad State
Team Championship tournaments are held in the months of April
and October. These tournaments typically draw 50-80 teams, first
place payouts awards have ranged from $2,000 to $10,000 with
big bass payouts up to $800.
Quad State Bass Club is a non-profit, 501_3C corporation that
is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors
shall consist of Member Club Presidents and the elected Quad
State Officers. The elected officers of Quad State are: President,
Vice President, Secretary, Tournament Director and Treasurer.
These officers are elected by the Club Presidents at its’
semi-annual meeting in January and shall hold office until their
successor are duly elected and installed. The Board is the administrative
body of the Quad State, It shall consent and approve presidential
appointments of special committees and chairpersons; It shall
approve the budgets of all committees and other programs or
projects requiring budgets or funding; It shall determine the
bank(s) in which the funds of the Quad State are to be deposited;
It shall approve expenditures of the Board and committees.
Annual Board meetings are held in January and June of each year,
time and place to be determined by the Board. In this meeting,
the agenda shall include the Board’s report of the previous
meeting activities, the proposed activities, budget and semi-annual
financial report. Election of officers and filling vacant Board
positions are included when applicable.
